Lied an den Mond |
Ludwig Gebhard began with
pen-and-ink drawings with fine strokes, then continued his artistic
trajectory with the lithograph. Woodcut and linoleum cut were also used,
with their planar effects. Gradually, sculpture took the place of painting
and he began producing reliefs. From round or elliptical discs, he cut
out a series of geometrical elements in consistent succession. With
this background, the print 'Lied
an den Mond' (Song to the Moon), from 1979, comes into
being. In this silkscreen of balanced colors, the diagonal plane varies
through space. A decorative effect is produced: the moon and mountains,
or the crests of the sea's waves proffering a right angle. ek |
