Silvia Quandt

Biographical Sketch

Silvia Quandt was born in Berlin but lives and works in Munich. Her artistic endeavours began with her studies at the Academy for Graphic Arts in Munich and an education as commercial artist. Since the 60's she has been working as a free-lance painter. Received the Bruda Award in 1968 and the Swabian Art Award in 1969. Works by Silvia Quandt can be seen today at the Bayrischen Staatsgemäldesammlung (Bavarian State Painting Collection) and in the Haus der Kunst Art Museum in Munich.

Quandt's work is ascribed to Fantastic Realism, charcterised by a tendency towards the Surreal, the oniric and also Romanticism in her paintings and graphic works. Some of her exhibits since 1967 in Germany: in Munich, Düsseldorf, Münster, Mannheim and Bremen; as well as abroad: London, Paris and Galerie Kornfeld in Zurich, etc. ek
