| Time Travel Bird of Passage |
Silvia Quandt mounts her dream images over landscapes like a collage. All of the lithographs mentioned here are from 1983. Time Travel is the title of one of her lithographs, in which the sand of lunar years flows out of an hour-glass into the stone crevasses and layers of the earth, embodying the snail of time. Before a tapestry-like background, the incredible occurs in: Bird of Passage. This lithograph in earth tones invites the imagination. Humanity on its Wheel of Hours. The voyage through time remains removed from time. The soul of the image takes wing and carries us off into the desert and at the same time into eternal ice. The fruit of this: a giant avocado. |

Les Aieux |
A sculpture fills the entire
boat, a piece of a far-removed culture, a fragment of prehistoric times,
the ancestor's head in dark basalt, the head of a man: Les
Aieux (The Ancestors). The bourgeois chains are broken. Surreal,
what is occurring in the print, quiet and balanced: a square. We find
ourselves in the desert. The wind has created thousands of ridges, sculpting
them finely. Who would think of water here? Where did the three boats
come from? There where the ancestors lived, the sea roared. Has the land
advanced? Has the sea receded? What is memory?

Good Morning Himmelsblüten |
Silvia Quandt succeeds in astonishing the observer with everyday situations. Good Morning. Breakfast served on a tray in a gold-framed, fine bourgeois pub. Above the parquet, a window swings open in a red apple, a window on the sea, or perhaps only on a sea of mist. The world becomes wide when a window opens. The apple shines on the tray as it swishes by through the blue sky. Drink your coffee before it gets cold. Good Morning, darling. ek |
