Bailarin |
Riera Rojas' prints 'Bailarin', (Dancer) and 'Guitarrista No. 2', are characterized by soft hues, a fusing of tones. Riera Rojas felt drawn towards the motifs of dancing couples, people singing and playing the guitar for an entire series of graphic works. He followed the suggestion of the Sala Gaspar gallery to create prints on flamenco music, the magnificent musical culture of the Andalucía region. He approached the motif cautiously, in his masterful way. |

Zambra Gitana I |
Rojas is a pastel artist, highly sensitive
even when a fiery theme sets the tone. The portrayals show the guitarists,
a dancing woman, a dancing man, the couple, each one separately or as
a group. 'Zambra
Gitana I', a lithograph in horizontal format. Softly, as
if from a distant echo, the graphics of this Catalan artist capture the
sounds and ambiance of Andalucía. The painting is wrapped in a
velvety melancholy and a nostalgic tenderness. Leitmotifs are the gestures
of the dancers, castañets, tambourines and guitars.
