Pep Canyellas

Biographical Sketch

Pep Canyellas was born in 1949 in Palma de Mallorca. Degree in sculpture in 1981. Belonged to the Criada group (1974-77). Pep Canyellas is part of a new generation of Spanish artists. He lives on Mallorca and was encouraged by Miró in his time. He exhibited several times at the Librería Tous in Palma, his first cycle of 'Investigaciones Plásticas de Alcúdia' was shown at the Colegio de Arquitectos de Baleares (Mallorca); he then showed at the Galería 4 Gats (Exp. Amnesty International); and at the Galería Latina, Palma de Mallorca. Since 1978, he has had exhibits in Mallorca, Zaragoza, Madrid and Cairo. Group exhibits since 1982 include: several exhibits in 1987 on his prints, among others: Obra gràfica, Mallorca, Calografía Nacional, Madrid, and especially Sala Gaspar, Barcelona, which has printed several of his lithographs. ek
