Quandt, Silvia

Silvia Quandt was born in Berlin and lives and works in Munich. Her artistic career began with her studies at the Academy of Graphic Arts in Munich and her training as a commercial artist. She has been a freelance painter since the 1960s; in 1968 she was awarded the Burda Prize and in 1969 the Schwabing Art Prize. Works by Silvia Quandt can be found today in the Bayrische Staatsgemäldesammlung and in the Haus der Kunst, Munich. The painter belongs to the group of fantastic realism, the tendency towards the surreal, the dreamlike but also the romantic determines her paintings and prints.
